A Helping Hand For Linux Users

This is a pic of my current desktop running a few things. Top left is Licq 0.81, an ICQ clone. Not the easiest to get setup but well worth the effort.
To it's right is Netscape 4.7 with my favorite forum, Linux Coffee Talk from Michael Holve's Everything Linux. Michael has been doing a lot of work there recently so take a look.
Be sure to visit what has to be just about the friendliest Linux forum on the web :-) Directly below Licq is kmpg, a very handy little MP3 player. Partially covered by that is The GIMP, a very popular graphics program. I used that to get this screen shot. To the right is kfm, the KDE file manager. I opened a cd (APC Mag's Linux Pocketbook) which contained an index.html which was automatically loaded so I could browse the cd. The image shown is actually for the MP3 that's playing. In the right hand corner of the KDE panel at the bottom, you may be able to make out 2 icons. These are KCPUload & KwikDisk, a cpu load monitor & a handy disk management utility. The only other feature, which you can't see, is the hidden task bar at the top of the screen. The theme I'm using is Gondolin, available along with many others from kde.themes.org. Be sure to check them out. So ends the tour of my desktop, I hope you enjoyed the visit. |
